1. Sentence
(A) Definition of Sentence: A sentence is a group of words capable of giving complete sense.
They are my.
It is not a sentence because it is not giving complete sense.
They are my friends.
It is a sentence because it is giving complete sense.
(B) Kinds of Sentences: Sentences are mainly of 5 types.
(1) Assertive Sentences: These are of two types.
(A) Affirmative Sentence As: He reads the book.
(B) Negative Sentence As: He does not read the book.
(2) Interrogative Sentences: These are further classified into two categories:
(A) Yes/No Type: Does he read the book?
(B) Wh-Type: Why does he read the book?
There is one more category among Interrogative Sentences. It is called Interro-nega These are also of two types.
(A) Yes/No Type: Does he not read the book?
(B) Wh-Type: Why does he not read the book?
