3) verb 

A word that expresses the action or tells something about some person or thing is called a verb


☁EXAMPLES 

eat, drink, go, come, is, are, am, was, were etc.


Kinds of Verbs: Verbs are of following kinds:


(1) Transitive Verbs: Possessing object. When the action does not stay with agent and needs object to answer the question 'what/whom'. As eat, drink etc.


He eats the fruit/food.


They drink the tea/milk.


(ii) Intransitive Verbs: Needn't object As: laugh, run, dance etc.

He laughs.

They run.

(il) Auxiliary Verbs

 1) primary

(a) Primary Auxiliary Verbs As: do/does, did, is/are/am, was/were, has, have,


(b) Modal Auxiliary Verbs - As will, shall, can, could, may, might, should, woje

to, must etc.


(iv) Main Verbs As eat, read, go, drink, etc.

On the basis of tense, verbs are classified as:

(1) Present form eat, drink

(2) Past form ate, drank

(3) Past Participle form caten, drunk

(4)Present Participle form - eating,

4) ADVERB

An Adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or adverb. As: slow, fast, very fas softly etc.


Kinds of Adverbs: Adverbs are of following kinds:


(i) Adverbs of Time - As: now, then, before, after, daily, everyday, soon, ago, formerly

late, lately, never etc.


ii) Adverbs of Frequency As once, twice, often, seldom, again, always


(iii) Adverbs of Place As: here, there, up, down, backward, forward, everywhere, out, inside etc.


(iv) Adverbs of Manner As clearly, slowly, bravely, hard, sadly, happily, thus, so etc.


(v) Adverbs of Degree of Quantity - As: too, almost, quite, rather, partly, completely, alte enough etc


(vi) Adverbs of Affirmation or Negation As surely, certainly, not, yes, not at all 


(vii) Adverbs of Reason As: hence, therefore, etc.


(viii) Relative Adverbs As why, when, where etc.

Same words can be adjectives as well as adverbs. It depends upon how they have been us

He spoke in loud voice. [Here loud Adjective]

Don't speak so loud. [Here loud Adverb]

4. Adjective


A word that describes the quality, number or quantity of a noun is called an Adjective. A bad, many, white, long, etc.


Kinds of Adjectives: Adjectives are of following kinds.


(1) Adjectives of Quality As large, small, honest, foolish.


(ii) Proper Adjectives As: Indian, French, Chinese etc.


(iii) Adjectives of Quantity As some, much, little, whole, sufficient, any, enough,


(iv) Adjectives of Number As some, many, no, all, several, first/second, few, five


Adjectives of Number or Numeral Adjectives 

are of following kinds:

(a) Definite Numeral Adjectives - As:

1. One, two, three etc cardinals

2. First, second, third etc ordina


(b) Indefinite Numeral Adjectives - As: All, many, no, few, some, any, several, cem


(c) Distributive Numeral Adjectives As: Each, every, either, neither etc.


(v) Demonstrative Adjectives As This, that, these, those, such etc.


(vi) Interrogative Adjective As: What, which, whose etc.


(vii) Possessive Adjectives = As my, our, your, his, her, their, its etc.

Adjectives have three degrees:


(i) Positive As: good, small


(ii) Comparative As: better, smaller


(iii) Superlative= As: best, smallest
